Minor

Business Administration: Designing Effective Organisations

In this minor you focus on how companies can get competitive benefits from designing effective organisations based on thorough knowledge about motivating people, using ICT applications and developing efficient business processes. The minor also provides insight into current and expected developments within the theoretical and practical analysis of these core areas within business administration. You are encouraged to make research-based connections between the theory and practice of designing effective organisations.

This minor is of interest for all students who aspire to fulfil policy- or management positions within business (banks and companies) or the government. A minor in Business Administration provides you with a good basis to be able to think about these types of issues and to work with the professionals in this field. After the completion of this minor you will be able to operate in local, national and international companies.

This minor does not provide admission to the Master’s programme in Business Administration.

Entry requirements

  • This minor is open for students who have successfully completed their first-year programme (60 EC) of a university Bachelor's programme.
  • Students from a University of Applied Sciences (HBO) who finished their first-year programme (60 EC) can also be admitted.
  • No prior knowledge in Economics or Mathematics is required.
  • This minor is not open  for students from UvA Economics and Business Bachelor's programme in Business Administration. Students in Economics and Business Economics take the course "Corporate Social Responsibility" as an alternative to the course Management Accounting 1 for Business as it overlaps with their own programme.
