No issue is more relevant for future leaders than sustainability. We aim to equip our graduates with specialist knowledge of sustainability issues in order to prepare the leaders of tomorrow.
The topic of sustainability is integrated into UvA degree programmes in a wide range of disciplines. Most UvA students will learn about sustainability issues at some point during their studies, whether through course work, university awareness-raising campaigns or student-led initiatives.

Raising awareness about sustainability issues among students takes place through debates, discussions and various initiatives: student-led initiatives such as the Green Office and campus-led initiatives such as promoting waste separation and recycling in UvA cafeterias
The UvA Green Office is a student initiative aimed at promoting sustainability at the UvA and raising awareness of the issue among students and employees. Green Office projects are carried out by students, and are either based on assignments from the University or initiatives suggested by students or staff.
Students, staff and members of the Amsterdam community regularly take part in lectures and debates on sustainability organised by various UvA faculties and by Room for Discussion, Spui25 or the Green Office.
